Dear Students, Alumni, Stakeholders, Partners, and Collaborators,
As the Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Chiang Mai University, I am determined to lead our Faculty of Economics forward with strength and sustainability. In a world that is rapidly changing and where global economic trends are reshaping education and work, the Faculty of Economics at Chiang Mai University must adapt promptly to create meaningful impact on society, the economy, and the business sector.
Over the next four years, the faculty’s management strategy will follow the concepts of "Agility, Result-Orientation, Transparency, and Continuous Improvement" to lay a solid basis for the faculty’s growth, as follows:
Developing Future-Oriented Curricula
Modernise undergraduate and graduate programmes to meet current job market skill requirements
Develop short-term programmes (Non-degree Programmes) as Modular Learning to provide opportunities for the general public to continuously develop economic skills, through collaboration with industry
Promote Lifelong Learning for students to address changing learner needs and behaviours
Driving Research and Innovation
Focus on research that creates economic and social impact, emphasising policy research and applied economics
Develop collaborations with external organisations in government, private sector, and international entities to ensure practical application of research
Develop social innovations from knowledge to address issues in communities and society
Utilising Technology and AI to Enhance Administrative Efficiency
Apply AI and Big Data in teaching, research, and faculty management
Restructure the organisation for greater agility, eliminate unnecessary procedures, and increase operational effectiveness
Building Collaborative Networks for Sustainable Development
Strengthen relationships with alumni and industries to create job opportunities and develop curricula that address real needs
Support social projects related to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) for the faculty to take a proactive role in driving the economy and improving people's well-being
Academic Services for Society and Community
Promote quality academic services beneficial to communities, localities, and the country
Develop proactive projects that can create genuine economic and social impact
Support collaboration with government and private organisations to improve people's quality of life
Transfer knowledge from research and academic services to the public through the Knowledge Management (KM) process
Transparent and Adaptable Organisational Culture
Create a culture of direct, open communication and good governance
Support staff at all levels to continuously learn and develop themselves
Review and improve any ineffective approaches to lead to improvement and change
Developing Organisational Management Systems Toward Excellence
Improve management systems using Education Criteria for Performance Excellence (EdPEx) and Thailand Quality Award (TQA) guidelines
Develop work processes to higher standards and create operational value
Focus on Data-Driven Management for accurate and effective decision-making
I invite all students, alumni, stakeholders, partners, and collaborators to be part of this transformation. The success of the faculty does not come from a single leader but from the cooperation of all relevant sectors. We will move forward together and establish the Faculty of Economics at Chiang Mai University as a center of economic knowledge that delivers quality and truly impacts communities and society.
