Faculty of Economics Participates in the 2026 Buddhist Lent Candle Offering Ceremony to Preserve Thai Cultural Heritage

On 27 July 2026 at 9.00 a.m., the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, led by Assoc. Prof. Rossarin Osathanunkul, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Economics, together with academic and professional staff, participated in the 2026 Buddhist Lent Candle Offering Ceremony. Candle offerings were presented at Wat Suan Dok Royal Templeand Wat Prathan Phon, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, in celebration of the Buddhist Lent tradition and the preservation of Thailand's cultural heritage.

The activity was organised to encourage staff participation in preserving the long-standing tradition of Buddhist Lent candle offering while advancing the Faculty's mission in arts and cultural preservation. It also aimed to cultivate moral values, ethical awareness, public-mindedness, and social responsibility through meaningful community engagement.

In addition, the programme promoted organisational engagement and staff well-being by providing opportunities for academic and professional staff to participate in cultural activities together, fostering a positive workplace culture, strengthening relationships among colleagues, and encouraging shared values through community service.

The ceremony also strengthened the relationship between the Faculty of Economics and local temples and communities in Chiang Mai, reflecting the Faculty's commitment to social responsibility, cultural preservation, and sustainable organisational development.
