Faculty of Economics Holds 2026 Faculty Assembly to Communicate Strategic Directions and Foster Staff Engagement

The Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, held its Faculty Assembly on Thursday, 4 June 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Lifelong Learning Room, Chuchart Petch-ampai Center of Excellence in Economics, to communicate the Faculty’s policies, operational directions, and strategic priorities. The event also provided an open platform for faculty members, researchers, and professional staff to exchange ideas, offer suggestions, and actively participate in driving the organization toward its shared goals.

The meeting was organized to foster a common understanding of the Faculty’s development directions across various dimensions, including administration and management, human resource development, research, academic services, and the promotion of an organizational culture grounded in good governance, transparency, and participation from all sectors of the Faculty community.

During the meeting, participants discussed and reviewed 16 key agenda items, including the Faculty’s strategic plan and stakeholder participation in operational planning, organizational values and culture, the progress of Interest Groups, anti-corruption measures, and transparency enhancement under the No Gift Policy. Other topics included guidelines for Work From Anywhere (WFA), attendance procedures, leave regulations, and business travel approval processes.

In addition, the meeting addressed initiatives for developing core staff competencies, closing competency gaps, managing supplementary compensation schemes, expanding collaborative academic programs with international universities, and preparing for activities ahead of Semester 1 of the 2026 academic year. The Faculty also communicated its support measures for international research dissemination, including research presentation grants of up to THB 30,000 per research work.

Another important agenda focused on the Faculty’s research and academic service directions and targets, together with support mechanisms designed to enhance the capabilities of faculty members and staff. The Faculty also introduced plans to organize internal research and academic service presentation forums to facilitate knowledge sharing and strengthen future academic collaborations.

Toward the end of the meeting, participants discussed the adoption of email as the primary channel for internal communication. This initiative aims to improve communication efficiency, reduce information discrepancies, and support faster, more transparent, and more accountable administrative processes.

This Faculty Assembly reflects the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University’s commitment to fostering participation at all levels, strengthening a shared understanding of organizational directions, and advancing the Faculty toward becoming a leading institution in economics characterized by excellence, transparency, and sustainability.
