Work Process Analysis and Improvement Using SIPOC

The Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, through its Operational Effectiveness (OE) Group, organized the first session of the Tools for Better Work workshop series, entitled “Work Process Analysis and Improvement Using SIPOC and BPMN”, under the topic “Work Process Analysis and Improvement Using SIPOC” on 29 May 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Room ECB 3308, Building 3, Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University. The workshop was attended by faculty staff members who actively participated throughout the session.

The workshop was designed to enhance participants’ knowledge, understanding, and skills in systematically analyzing and improving work processes through both learning and hands-on practice using the SIPOC (Supplier, Input, Process, Output, Customer) framework. SIPOC is an essential process improvement tool that provides a comprehensive overview of a workflow, from inputs and operational procedures to outputs and customers. It enables participants to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and key factors influencing operational performance more effectively.

In addition, participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences and analyze real-life work processes through practical case studies. This approach allowed them to apply the knowledge gained to their daily responsibilities, conduct comprehensive problem analyses, develop solutions that better meet customer needs, and improve work processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

The workshop forms part of the Faculty’s ongoing efforts to drive organizational excellence by strengthening staff capabilities in the application of modern management tools for continuous improvement. Such initiatives contribute to enhancing operational efficiency across the organization and support the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, in its pursuit of becoming a learning organization committed to sustainable development.
