On 20 March 2026, the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, welcomed a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Office of the Liaocheng Municipal People’s Government, People’s Republic of China, on the occasion of their visit to the Faculty of Economics and the ASEAN Studies Center, Chiang Mai University. The purpose of the visit was to discuss opportunities for enhancing practical cooperation between Liaocheng City and Chiang Mai Province.
The delegation was welcomed by Assistant Professor Dr. Pithoon Thanabodeekij, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Economics, together with Associate Professor Dr. Nisit Phanthamit, Director of the ASEAN Studies Center, Chiang Mai University. The visiting delegation was led by Ms. Li Changping, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Liaocheng City.
The discussions focused on strengthening international economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of import and export promotion, industrial development, and the establishment of collaborative networks among relevant stakeholders. These efforts aim to support sustainable economic growth and create mutually beneficial opportunities for both regions.
The visit marked an important milestone in fostering closer ties between Liaocheng and Chiang Mai and highlighted Chiang Mai University’s role as a hub for international academic and economic collaboration. It also reflected the shared commitment of both sides to advancing regional connectivity and promoting long-term cooperation across multiple sectors.
