CMU Trek to Doi Suthep 2025 Held in Honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother
On Saturday, 22 November 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Rossarin Osathanunkul, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, together with administrators, faculty members, students, and staff, participated in the annual CMU Trek to Doi Suthep 2025 under the theme “Hundreds of Mountains, Thousands of Ethnicities: Diverse Communities, United in Development.”
The event is one of Chiang Mai University’s most cherished traditions, preserving the institution’s cultural heritage while fostering unity among students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
This year’s activity was organized under the concept of living together in a multicultural society, highlighting the unique identities and cultural richness of highland ethnic communities. The event also emphasized educational equity, respect for diversity, and the recognition of every individual’s potential regardless of background.
Participants began the procession at the main gate of Chiang Mai University and proceeded along Huay Kaew Road toward Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of Northern Thailand’s most revered temples. The pilgrimage was conducted as an act of merit dedicated to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
Upon reaching the temple, participants paid homage to Phra That Doi Suthep, a sacred landmark and spiritual symbol of Chiang Mai. The activity provided an opportunity for students, particularly first-year students, to experience a longstanding university tradition while strengthening their sense of belonging and pride as members of the Chiang Mai University community.
Beyond its cultural and spiritual significance, the CMU Trek to Doi Suthep serves as a platform for fostering friendship, solidarity, and mutual understanding among students from diverse backgrounds. The event encourages participants to appreciate cultural diversity and reinforces the values of respect, inclusiveness, and social harmony.
The Faculty of Economics remains committed to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Chiang Mai while supporting activities that strengthen relationships among students and promote a vibrant and inclusive university community.
