The first session of ‘Econ Insight: Understanding Policy, Moving Forward Together’ for Faculty Members

On October 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, organized the first session of the “Econ Insight: Understanding Policy, Moving Forward Together” meeting for academic staff. The event aimed to foster a comprehensive understanding of the Faculty’s policies and strategic plans, as well as to provide a platform for academic personnel to exchange ideas in driving administration, teaching, research, and academic service. The meeting took place in Room ECB 3203.

The meeting agenda included presentations on the Faculty of Economics’ policies and strategic plans, encompassing both the strategic plan and the operational plan, along with the Interest Group project for academic staff. It also covered human resource management policies, such as announcements on staff welfare and benefits, guidelines for evaluating academic staff performance, procedures for disbursing academic position allowances (second-tier remuneration), the CMU Golden Handshake project for university employees, the Chiang Mai University Code of Ethics, and academic work arrangements, including on-site meetings, office hours, and work at the Faculty. Additionally, policies on digitalization and organizational restructuring under the Sandbox model were discussed.

Regarding academic policies, the meeting addressed guidelines for disbursing compensation for extra teaching loads, procedures for academic leave, curriculum management policies to reduce the number of class days for undergraduate students, adjustments of graduate program tuition fees, and policies for CMU PSF and Thailand PSF accreditation. Furthermore, policies on income-generating academic activities and international missions were presented under the concept of Future Ready Graduates & Economics for Life.

In terms of research and academic service policies, the focus was on supporting academic staff participation in implementing the Faculty’s operational plans and promoting research outputs. The session concluded with an open discussion segment, providing an opportunity for academic staff to exchange ideas, deliberate, and propose comprehensive approaches for development in each area.

This meeting reflected the Faculty of Economics’ commitment to fostering understanding and collaboration among academic staff, aiming to enhance the quality of administration, teaching, research, and academic services in alignment with the Faculty’s and the University’s policies and strategic objectives.
