CMU Faculty of Economics Organizes Field Study on “Current Economic Issues Seminar” Exploring Energy and Future Technologies

On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 07:00 to 17:00, the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, organized a field study under the course 751447 Current Economic Issues Seminar, led by Asst.. Prof. Dr. Napon Hongsakulvasu and Asst. Prof. Dr. Supanika Leurcharusmee, faculty members of the Economics Department. The study visit took place at the Mae Ngat Somboon Chon Dam, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai, and the Butterfly Farm Project, Mueang District, Chiang Mai.

The program aimed to provide students with in-depth knowledge of hydropower plant operations, an essential source of clean energy in Thailand, and to enhance their understanding of the role of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) in shaping the national electricity market.

Students also had the opportunity to explore hydrogen energy technologies, widely regarded as one of the future-oriented energy solutions, and to connect classroom learning with real-world applications of modern energy technologies.

This field study not only enriched students’ understanding of the energy economy but also strengthened their analytical skills and broadened their perspectives, preparing them to become well-rounded graduates capable of addressing the challenges of economic and technological transformation in the future.
