School of Management, MFU, Visits the ECON CMU to Strengthen Academic Collaboration and Promote the Creative Economy

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University (CMU), had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation of executives and faculty members from the School of Management, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), for an official study visit. The objective of the visit was to exchange academic knowledge and explore opportunities for collaboration in the fields of economics and the creative economy. Both institutions share a common goal of enhancing graduate quality, developing curricula that respond to global dynamics, and fostering stronger engagement between academia and the private sector.

Associate Professor Dr. Rossarin Osathanunkul, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, CMU, delivered the welcoming remarks and presented an overview of the faculty. The visit included a commemorative group photo, followed by a session on curriculum management led by:

• Assistant Professor Dr. Pithoon Thanabordeekij, Associate Dean
• Assistant Professor Dr. Tatcha Sudtasan, Associate Dean

The two speakers shared insights on curriculum design and revision, the integration of co-curricular activities to enhance students’ competencies in a rapidly changing world, and proactive strategies for building partnerships with the private sector to align graduate skills with labor market demands.

In addition, Assistant Professor Dr. Supanika Leurcharusmee, Assistant Dean, presented an overview of the faculty's research administration and shared experiences in promoting research that addresses societal and economic challenges.

In the afternoon, the agenda featured presentations and discussions on the core missions of the faculty’s research centers:

• "Missions and Activities of MQERC" by Associate Professor Dr. Chukiat Chaiboonsri, Director of the Modern Quantitative Economic Research Centre (MQERC), who outlined the center’s vision of elevating quantitative economic research to international standards.
• "Driving Creative Economy Research and Innovation at CMU through the CERINN Model" by Assistant Professor Dr. Chanamart Intapan, from the Centre of Excellence for Creative Economy Research and Innovation (CERINN), highlighting initiatives that support innovation in the creative economy.
• "ASEAN CMU: Going Global" by Associate Professor Dr. Nisit Panthamit, Director of the ASEAN Economic Research Centre, who presented the center’s mission to enhance CMU’s role in regional and global academic arenas through research, scholarly networks, and international collaborations.

This visit marked a significant step in strengthening academic ties between Chiang Mai University and Mae Fah Luang University, particularly in integrating economics with creative economy concepts to create a positive impact on the country’s social, economic, and educational development in the years to come.
