Hub Khwan for Freshmen and ECON 68 Bonding
On 14 June 2025, the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, organised the activity “Hub Khwan for Freshmen and ECON 68 Bonding” at the “Lifelong Learning for Well-being” meeting room. The event aimed to warmly welcome the new students of the academic year 2025 and foster strong relationships between the new cohort, faculty members, and senior students.
The morning session began with the traditional Bai Sri Su Kwan ceremony, a Lanna ritual performed to offer blessings and encouragement to the new students. The ceremony was graciously led by Ajarn Sanan Thamthi. Following this, Associate Professor Dr. Rossarin Osathanunkul, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, officially welcomed the students. She was joined by Assistant Professor Dr. Pairat Piboonrungroj, Assistant to the President of Chiang Mai University, who also extended a friendly and heartfelt welcome. Additionally, Dr. Jirapa Inthisang Trochim, representing the faculty members, delivered a welcome speech in the Lanna dialect, reflecting the local identity and the warm spirit of the Economics community.
The event also featured a workshop entitled “Empowering and Connecting ECON CMU”, led by Dr. Kaneya Onnang from the Department of Educational Foundations and Development, Faculty of Education, Chiang Mai University, accompanied by two assistant facilitators. The session created an engaging and participatory atmosphere that encouraged creative learning and interaction.
In the afternoon, students participated in the “Econ Edutainment” activity, which focused on learning through fun and teamwork to build relationships and unity among the newcomers. This was followed by a reflection session, where students shared insights gained throughout the day. Prizes were also awarded to uplift and motivate the participants.
This event reflects the Faculty of Economics’ ongoing commitment to ensuring that new students embark on their university journey with confidence, surrounded by a positive atmosphere, and supported wholeheartedly by both faculty members and their peers.
