ECON CMu Joins the Annual Songkran Ceremony to Pay Respect to Former Presidents and Senior Faculty Members

The Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Rossarin Osathanunkul, Dean, along with executives, staff, and students, participated in the annual Songkran ceremony organized by Chiang Mai University. The event honored former university presidents, the current president, and senior faculty members, celebrating the traditional Thai New Year and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Lanna traditions.

During the ceremony, Professor Emeritus Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai, President of the Chiang Mai University Council, delivered a blessing, while Prof. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, M.D., Ph.D., President of Chiang Mai University, expressed heartfelt gratitude and offered best wishes for the Thai New Year 2025 (B.E. 2568). The event was held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Chiang Mai University Auditorium.

In addition to the ceremony, there were various competitions, including the Traditional Head-Washing Procession Contest, Lanna Traditional Costume Contest, and Larb (a traditional Northern Thai dish) Contest. The Faculty of Economics proudly received the following awards:

• Second Runner-up in the Lanna Traditional Costume Contest (Student Category): Miss Pawarit Hruetrakul and Mr. Naphat Thongsuk
• Second Runner-up in the Traditional Head-Washing Procession Contest
