Faculty of Economics, CMU, Joins in Preserving the Lanna Pi Mai Muang Tradi

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Rossarin Osathanunkul, Dean, together with faculty members and staff, took part in celebrating and preserving the beautiful traditions of Lanna culture during the Songkran Festival, also known as "Pi Mai Mueang" (Lanna New Year).

As part of the festivities, the revered Buddha image, Phra Phuttha Phingkanakarapimongkhon—the principal Buddha image of Chiang Mai University—was respectfully enshrined on a ceremonial carriage and joined the grand procession of sacred Buddha images held in Chiang Mai Province.

Chiang Mai University’s procession, positioned 17th in line, elegantly made its way from Nawarat Bridge, passing through Tha Phae Gate, and continued toward Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan. Throughout the route, crowds of locals and tourists gathered to pay their respects and sprinkle water over the Buddha images, wishing for blessings and good fortune.
