Economics Students at CMU Ranked Among Top 10 Faculty Startup Clubs 2024 and Recognized for Highest Startup Club Membership

Students from the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, members of the "Econ First Step Entrepreneurs" club, have been awarded the honorary plaque recognizing them as one of the “10 Faculty Startup Clubs 2024” of Chiang Mai University. Additionally, they received another plaque for being the "Startup Club with the Most Builds Members."

The club's driving team includes Mr. Nitipoom Kantama (Student ID: 651610224), Mr. Sorasak Khumsa (Student ID: 641610465), Ms. Thipphathai Khueankaew (Student ID: 641610178), Ms. Phatsuda Nuthong (Student ID: 651610337), and Ms. Jinjuta Khongchuai (Student ID: 651610050). Their success has been greatly supported and mentored by Assistant Professor Dr. Phithoon Thanabodeekij and Assistant Professor Dr. Napol Hongsakulwasu, who have played key roles in empowering and guiding students towards becoming professional entrepreneurs. The club now boasts more than 160 members.

These awards are part of the Faculty Startup Club Project, organized under the CMU Builds Entrepreneurs Ecosysteminitiative—a collaborative effort between Chiang Mai University, through its Science and Technology Park, and the Faculty of Economics. The project aims to develop a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem and foster entrepreneurial spirit among students.

The Econ First Step Entrepreneurs club has actively organized various activities to enhance entrepreneurial skills among students. Key initiatives include:

• Activity 1: "Starting Your Own Business" Workshop
  • 1.1 Alumni talk: Sharing real-world startup experiences by Faculty of Economics alumni.
  • 1.2 Special lecture and workshop on "Building Your Brand."
• Activity 2: Seminar and Workshop on the Green Economy
• Activity 3: Data Analysis for Market Research

These activities have been well-received, with a cumulative participation of over 250 students from across Chiang Mai University, reflecting the strong interest and entrepreneurial drive of the new generation.

This achievement highlights the potential and determination of students at the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, who not only excel academically but also apply and extend their knowledge into real-world entrepreneurial opportunities in the modern business landscape.
