The study on the effects of technological change in Siam Commercial Banks on the employment of managers and personal bankers aimed to investigate job performance problems and obstacles of managers and personal bankers and to explore the effects of technological change on the employment of managers and personal bankers. The time series and cross-sectional data from 2015 to 2017 were used and analyzed by the Fixed Effect model and descriptive statistics.
Job performance problems and obstacles of managers and personal bankers were found to derive mostly from rules and regulations of the banks. The rules and regulations are too strict, resulting in little flexibility in providing services to customers.
Regarding the effects of technological change of the banks on employment of managers and personal bankers, it is found that the number of internet banking users and branch transactions has a positively significant effect on the employment. For personal bankers, it is found that the number of credit card users and branch transactions has a significant and positive effect on the employment of personal bankers. In contrast, the number of ATM users and branch transactions has a negatively significant effect on the employment of personal bankers. That is, if there are more numbers of ATM users and branch transactions, there is a lesser tendency to employ personal bankers
