This research aims to study behaviors and factors which influenced money saving for Retirement Preparation of people in the Mueang Municipality of Chiang Mai. The study focused on the groups who earn regular income and non-regular income for 200 persons each, aged 40-60 years and resided in the Mueang Municipality of Chiang Mai. The data was collected from questionnaires. The study result found that the most in the two sample groups who gain regularly income and non-regular income are female, aged 40-45 years, earn THB 30,961.92 and THB 26,435.05 per month respectively. The debt was accounted for 81.50% and 77.50% of income respectively. Most debt came from car installment and credit card.
The result from saving behavior study revealed that the sample group who gain regularly income saves money from their revenue while those who gain temporarily income save money from their investment. Most saving ration is at 1-5% of revenue. And savings method used was to reduce expenses first and save later. In addition, the two sample groups mostly selected to money deposit in and the primary reason is to save money for their illness in the future. Secondly, they purchase on life insurance companies become they will gain compensation when they become sick.
