This study was to analyze the management and measurement the potential of the tourism homestay management in Northern Thailand that pass to audit in standard of Department of Tourism in 2013 total was 14 places by divided into 2 groups : 1. Tourism homestay Lanna civilization and Northern (11 places) and 2. Tourism homestay world heritage linked to ecotourism (3 places) The analysis is divided into 2 sides which are group of homestay that consists of 5 criteria : event , management , safety , marketing/PR and finance and the owner of homestay that consists of 2 criteria : home/accommodation, hygiene and cleanliness.
The study found that the tourism homestay Lanna civilization and Northern was homestay group had to management and potential of tourism management in excellence ranking. Most homestay in this group have a good management. There were the event insertion, local tradition, communication for the tourists to know the way of life and well-being and a cultural exchanged between the tourists and local people that look like helping to broadcast local cultural traditions in various forms to look outside more. The homestay management was standard that cause to satisfaction and impressing to the guests. They also concern about creating confidence in the safety of tourists, promoted through the online media , creating Web Page/Website apart from creating the brochures, management with the financial of the homestay, bookkeeping income – expense regularly. The homestay owners provide clean, comfortable and hygienic as to as audit in standard of Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Sports. The most potential homestay in this group was Muang Pon Homestay, Mae Hong Son Province.
The study in the group of Tourism homestay world heritage linked to ecotourism found that the management and potential of tourism management was in very good ranking. The tourists in this group will be to experience the way of integrated farming until the education nature trail and experience the lifestyle of local people. This group had superb management. They had to establish a group with the system, had to manage safety when the tourists to stay and had to manage database bookkeeping income – expense of homestay by recording every time. But this group lack of marketing and PR management that modern and no access a diverse group of tourists. So the expansion base of the tourists therefore it happens slowly, including a lack of the event insertion of homestay. The most potential homestay in this group was Baan Na Bua Homestay, Phitsanulok Province.
So the result of this study indicates that the good potential homestay must be the group which have a good management by all members. There are the administration which is effective safety awareness of tourists to stay. The homestay should create identity of group to make it stand out of unknown, should create the event that cause learning and tourists can participate in. There are clean accommodations and compliant. They should link the local product for souvenir sale to tourists that can generate income for local people. And the most important is that they must have PR of group to be recognized by modern media such as create the Web Page on facebook , line and etc.
